Here are the rules for the community, broken down into In-Character [IC], Out of Character [OOC], and the Cbox. If you have any questions, please ask in the questions forum.
Note: Rules may change, but will always be announced in the news forum. It is your responsibility to remain in the loop.
Rules
1. No killing other player's without the player's consent. If this happens, there's no warning. The post will be deleted as will the character profile. When characters come in to conflict, the outcomes of the battles--by and large--will be decided by you. PM or IM the player(s) of the characters that yours are interacting with and get an idea of how you want the battle to play out, be it playing it by ear or scripting it out. Entirely up to you. The administrator reserves the right to make an executive decision regarding any conflict if others can not come to an agreement.
1a. On a similar note, do note kill canon characters without receiving admin approval. Even the most obscure canons may be fodder for someone else's story someday. This is the Game of Thrones, so there may well be some more leeway with this rule than in other games, but we'll look at that after the game is on solid footing for a bit. If the admins think it's a workable idea for a canon character to die in the game, we'll give the go ahead.
2. Act with respect to the other players. This one is approached with the same degree of seriousness as the first rule. Roleplaying should be a positive experience. Leave any personal drama at the door. No one wants to deal with it.
3. What the Admin says goes. Period. We are very open to dialogue and feedback but at the end of the day if a decision has to be made regarding a character or story--that's it.
4. You can choose a limit of three [3] canon PC characters on this board to begin with. If the admin team sees that you can handle those, more will be allowed. You can play as many NPCs as you would like, just do so with the knowledge that anyone else can apply for them to be one of their PCs at any time. Sample posts are required for all full-time, PC canon character applications. Original characters are always welcome. No sample is required for originals. The mods will be looking to make sure that the character's history blends with the game. This is a big world! You can make it happen.
4b. NPCing characters requires staff permission. If you require one or two characters for a personal plot, and need NPCs to do so, ask the admin about the NPCs in mind. We like players taking the initiative, but we also need to make sure things don't clash.
5. Original Characters [OCs], those that are member created, must remain original. We do not want any rip-offs from other fictional continuities.
5a. Original Characters cannot be related to Canon characters under any circumstances. Additionally, no Original Character can claim history dealings with any Canon Character unless pre-approved by the admin prior to application .
6. When applying for a character here, remember that we're looking for quality role players; ones that will put effort into there posts and keep up with the board are what matters. We expect more than a one-liner or one post a month. The scenes only keep their momentum if everyone contributes to keeping them going, myself definitely included.
7. Role play as often as your characters are needed. If you're playing a lesser known character, then they obviously don't need to be played as actively as major figures in the realm. They can be heavily involved in a story and then have some "time off" so to speak. But if they're involved in a thread, it's common courtesy not to leave them hanging for days (or weeks!) between each reply. Just use common sense.
8. If a player has been inactive for longer than a month without posting an absence note in the absence thread, the player's characters will be made available.
9. If you are playing an established GoT character, keep their personality and quirks in mind when posting as them. We will give you a lot of leeway, but there is a line between putting a new twist on a character and redefining the character entirely--making them, effectively, a fanmade. It's a subjective line, but you'll have to trust that we know where it is.
10. Please keep other players in mind when posting in group threads, and retain a rough posting order. Not everyone can reply as quickly, and players should be willing to give others a turn at posting. If you find the thread slowing down due to waiting, run with an unofficial 24-hour rule, just to keep things active.
11. Remain civil to one another; we don't like drama, and we won't hesitate to remove the source of the problem. We all have enough real life to deal with. These hobbies are to escape stress, not add more. Happy players are good players!
Pretty basic. Pretty straightforward. Almost entirely common sense. Join up and have a blast!
Out of Character Rules
1. Religion, sex and politics are touchy subjects; remember everyone has an opinion, and we should respect their beliefs. Tread these subjects accordingly.
2. Staff are people, too; we have lives, and we will help you as soon as we possibly can.
Cbox Rules
1. Keep the language appropriate. We're not a convent, but we don't want to see cbox filled with brazen cussing and swearing, just for the heck of it. A word here or there is fine, but let's not go overboard.
2. Try to refrain from trolling members; it's not amusing, and it tends to go too far. A bit of joking around is fine, but know when to draw the line. Also, try to keep text-speak, or other such abbreviated/altered forms, out of the conversation.
3. Links to adult-orientated material will result in an instant, permanent ban. Usuallu this is just spambots and accounts, but every so often...
4. Remain guest friendly; we want people to ask questions, even if you might get annoyed. They have a right to the cbox, too.
5. No advertising in the cbox. We have a forum for that.
6. Members who cause excess drama will have their cbox privileges removed, for an amount of time dependent on the staff member.
7. Have fun!
